LaBoR DaY 2011

If you can't tell by the picture above, this Rissman clan celebrated our Labor Day weekend up at the cabin! Seeing as how most of our fall weekends are filled with parties and weddings, we decided to head to the cabin one last time before winter rolls (YUCK!). As most of you know the weather wasn't the greatest so we spent most of our time keeping the boys busy inside, and warm. This is one of my favorite pictures from the weekend so I had to post it first! On Saturday morning the boys woke up and decided it would be fun to wrestle around in Grandma and Grandpa Rissman's bed. Auntie Tiff and I were able to coach them into giving each other a little kiss (so sweet!).
Just cuddling in Nana and Papa's bed! The boys found it very funny to pretend they were going to sleep and then shouting "wake up!". The humor they found in this last almost an hour and the entire house found it very cute!
Wrestle time!
And then there was 3! Uncle Gomer (aka...Ryker's dada), yes this is what Landon calls Kris joined the boys in bed for some wrestling and fun.
Fast forward about 12 hours..............above is a picture of Ryker and Landon with Auntie Tiff doing story time and teeth brushing right before bed.

Sunday morning the boys were up early, and even though it was quite brisk out they headed outside to load some trucks.
Heading down to the lake to do some fishing with their dada's for the first time (early bird gets the worm, right!?).
Ryker jumped right in and got down to business like a pro (you would have thought he had done this before).
Waiting patiently for his first fish, while keeping warm with dada!

And...........he caught one! At first Ryker wasn't real sure about the fish, he kept telling Kris and I "yucky!".
But after the excitement that filled the air by everyone else around, Ryker soon realized that catching a fish was a good thing and he became very excited and proud of himself (so stinkin cute)!
Soon, 1 fish became 2, and 2 became 3.......I'm sure you get the idea. Who new the pier was the perfect place to catch little baby bluegill (FYI: they were all returned safely to their home in the lake). With each fish that Ryker caught, you can see from the picture above his excitement grew and grew! He had a hard time waiting for Kris to get the next worm on his hook (quite the fisherman).

Once the weather got a little warmer, we decided to get the boys out of the house and head to the Dells. We stopped at Mt. Olympus for some kiddy rides and water park time. Above is a picture of Ryker riding on his most favorite thing in the world, a Choo Choo!

There was actually only about 2 rides the boys could ride on (bummer!), the Choo Choo and this air balloon ride that Ryker wasn't exactly crazy about (Yes, I know he is smiling in the picture above but that ended very soon once the ride got going! Kris and I felt horrible!).
Then onto the water park, which Ryker LOVED! However, it was so chilly out that this only lasted a short time before Ryker's lips started turning blue.

So we headed to the indoor part of the water park, which was much warmer but extremely packed with other families.
All in all we had a great Labor Day weekend, but Kris and I did learn a couple of valuable lessons:
1. Don't try to do a water park when it's 69 degrees out
2. Don't choose to try a water park for the first time when it's a holiday weekend
3. You get what you pay for

Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!
