Ryker enjoyed Kite Fest so much last year that me made sure to put it on the calender for this year, so we wouldn't miss it. So....2 weekends ago we headed down to the North 40 (located on NIU campus) to enjoy Kite Fest 2011, which did disappoint :) NIU sponsors this adorable little station where the kiddo's can make their own kite and Ryker was old enough this year to take some interest in this. Above is a picture of him decorating his paper that would soon be transformed into a kite.
Ryker and his handmade "blue" kite (you tell by the picture above that he was pretty proud of his artwork)!
Dada and Ryker flying his kite! Surprisingly, theses paper kites actually fly pretty well when the wind is blowing in the right direction.
Mama's turn! We had to carry Ryker and run with the kite in order to get it up and going. Poor Ryker couldn't run fast enough by himself to get enough wind underneath the kite to pick it up.
But, he did make several attempts to do it by himself :)

Such a stinker!
Just a quick picture of some of the kites they had up in the air for all of us to view.
Who doesn't love the opportunity to spend a Sunday afternoon in nice weather accompanied by family!

Ryker showing off his Bear pride!
Ryker and one of his best buds "Mayee" (aka...Maggie) as Ryker would say it.
Does this picture not just melt your heart?!
Ryker loves his "Mayee" so much, and they have become the best of buds. They are great companions and play so well together. Things they enjoy doing together include: a great game of chase, playing ball, wrestling, a good kiss, and tons of cuddle time.
Thank you Maggie for being such a great dog to our family, we would be lost without you!
