St.ThOmAs 2010

Kris, Ryker and I along with grandma and grandpa Urban, auntie Shar and Uncle Josh all packed up and enjoyed 10 WONDERFUL days on the Islands of St. Thomas and St. John. We departed on the 19th of November and arrived back in the windy city on the 29th. The day before we were to leave, Ryker decided to come down with a temp of 102.0 (he has never had a temp this high before EVER!), which quickly prompted me to get him to the doctors before we departed to the islands. To my relief after a real quick visit we got the ok to go and was reassured it was JUST a cold (I had my doubts about this!). That night Ryker's temp elevated all the way to 103.0 (with Tylenol and Motrin in him), and he looked absolutely horrible. Kris and I spent most of the night up with the poor little guy, trying to get his temperature to break. After much contemplating and a sleepless night, Kris and I STILL decided to board that plane to St.Thomas (I know real good parenting right?). Ryker was great on the plan and pretty much slept the entire trip, but our fist night there was horrible. Ryker's temperature continued to rise to the point of concern, his breathing was horrible and I have to admit I was completely concerned at this point (it was definitely more than a cold)! After another sleepless night, Kris and I rushed him to the Red Hook urgent care, where he was diagnosed with a double ear infection and bronchitis. Amazing to me how in less than 48 hours a COLD can turn into bronchitis and a double ear infection. The doctor was pretty concerned about Ryker (as were Kris and I), she was concerned that the bronchitis was well on it way to pneumonia. We were sent home with an antibiotic and informed to go to ER if his temp was to rise above 104.0 again. Kris and I contemplated again whether or not to board a plane and come right back home, but at this point we felt as though we were getting better care for him in St.Thomas than we had in Illinois (let's just say we switched doctor's after this experience!). Within 24 hours of being on the antibiotic our little guy was well on his way to recovery, and by the following day he was definitely back to normal. So a rough start to vacation, but the remaining days were amazing and Ryker had a blast on the beaches. Kris and I enjoyed every single second of him on this vacation and it turned out to be a HUGE success. Above is one of my favorite family pictures from the trip. Please sit back and enjoy the following picture's from the trip, I had a hard time choosing which ones to post :)

Thanks to grandma and grandpa Urban, Kris and I got to enjoy a wonderful dinner all to ourselves. This restaurant overlooked a bay that was where all the yachts came in (some of the most amazing yachts I have ever seen). The view was extremely romantic, Kris and I dreamed about what life would be like to have all the money in the world that you could travel the world via yacht with your very own crew.

On the Island of St. John donkeys (yes I said donkeys) roam free! This is a picture of me feeding a mama donkey on the side of the road (her adorable little baby was standing behind her).

Our waitress (auntie Shar) serving drinks of daiquiri's and pina colada's.

This is a picture of the family after spending several hours at Megan's Bay ( a beach on the island of St.Thomas). Grandpa Urban and Ryker decided to enter all of us into a sand castle building contest (our castle was built to look like the island of St.Thomas).

This was the view from our room (amazing right?)!

This is a picture of one of the many iguana's that roam freely on the island of St.Thomas. They are very friendly and have no problem coming right up to you if they think you have something to offer them (YUCK!)

This is a platform that was in the middle of the bay where we were staying and YES, that is a picture of Ryker and his dada on it!

Ryker had no fear of the ocean at all (unlike his mama). We pretty much spent all day soaking up the sun and my little man turned into a little brown bear :)

Life is good, just another day at the beach :)

This is another favorite of mine. This picture was taken on our balcony.

This trip was very special to Kris and I, 4 years ago almost to the day we spent 9 amazing days on the island of St.Thomas for our honeymoon. Kris and I made a special visit to the gorgeous resort that we stayed at. Above is a picture of us at the Frenchman's Reef and Morning Star Resort.

And..........of coarse we spent this special moment with our little guy. This is a picture of the 3 of us on a balcony that overlooks the harbor where all the cruise ships come in.

Seeing as how we spent all day at the beaches, we had to be very cleaver when it came to finding a place for Ryker to take his naps. Above is a picture of one of the many little forts we made for him.

Ryker helping grandpa Urban build one huge sand castle.

A little keepsake!

This is a picute from the RITZ CARLTON! We just happened to meet a guys and his wife at the beach that was the manager to the Ritz Carlton, and he insisted on treating all 7 us to a day there. Who in there right mind would say no to that, right? Boy did this guy (Andre) know how to keep his promise, we all had an amazing day being pampered by the Ritz Carlton staff :)

Just napping at the Ritz under my very own umbrella.

Ryker's very own jacuzzi! The kitchen sink at the condo we stayed at was huge, Ryker loved using it to take a bubble bath (such a stinker)!

Just a family picture during one of our fairy rides over to St.John.

Trunk's Bay! St. John is known for it's beautiful beaches, now you know why :)

The boys snorkeling at Trunks Bay (from the left, dad, josh and Kris).

Ryker playing in the sand, showing off his plumbers' crack :)

This is a sting ray that Kris spotted right in front of the condo we stayed at.

Just taking a little stroll on the beach.

All ready to go snorkeling :)

Ryker just loved playing in the sand. Everyone thought I was ridiculous for bringing all his sand toys along, but they really paid off in the end.

Happy Turkey Day! We may have been miles away from home, but that didn't stop us from eating turkey. We actually had a great Thanksgiving dinner at this cute, yet very busy restaurant along the ocean.

Me and my little monkey :)

As you can see from the picture above, by the end of the trip he was definitely feeling better and back in Ryker mode.

Kris and I found this adorable little hat and couldn't resist :)

Ryker and his dada! Ryker loved playing in the ocean and thought it was hysterical when the wave would come in and knock him over. We have the most heart breaking video of him having a blast a Coki beach in St. Thomas.

Such a stinker!

This is a picture of us on our last day at the beach. I think we would have savored this moment a little bit better if we actually realized how cold Chicago was going to be for us when we got home.
We went to Hooter's our last night in St.Thomas only so that everyone could watch the Bear's game. Seeing as how I have been harassed on a regular basis because I am still breast feeding Ryker (we have a goal to be done by the 1st of January), everyone thought this T-shirt fit him perfect!

And......................our last morning at the condo.
