KiTe FeStiVaL

DeKalb hosted a kite festival on the campus of NIU this past Sunday, so Kris and I thought it would be fun to take Ryker and let him cruise around while taking in some fun sights. It actually turned out to be quite a big event. There was a DJ (which Ryker danced his little heart off to), a kite making station for the children, many local food/business vendors, and DeKalb park district even had a tent. Above is a picture of Ryker checking out a local vendors kite stand. He was very into all the colors and sounds coming from it.

It also turned out to be Bears Sunday, so Ryker had to sport his new FORTE jersey that grandma Urban got him (she is a crazy Bears fan). Lucky for him he got to wear it with pride (the Bears actually WON)!

Here is a picture of some of the kites that were already up and flying (they seemed to be a lot bigger in person).

Ryker showing dada all the kites (I love that he can point at things now, it is so cute!)..

A better picture of some of the kites. The purple and blue ones are giant octopus's and then if you look very closely at the end you can see the ginormous penguin. As you can see from the picture above the weather cooperated for this kite festival and gave us a beautiful windy day.

Kris taking Ryker for a closer look.

I'm not quite sure what he was trying to do here :)

Ok, so for a short period of time this may have had his attention more than the kites. He's such a little boy and loves to wrestle anything he can get his hands on.

Kris and Ryker watching one of the kite shows. As you can see from the picture above, Ryker was starting to get a little tuckered out from all his kite fun. So we had to call it a day to get the little man home just in time for an afternoon nap.
